5 years, 4 months ago Non classé 0

I’m glad and proud to announce my photo exhibition in Italy, Turin.

This exhibition is shared with the Master Simon Marsden and will start the 31 Oct to the 30 Dec 2012.

The exhibition will take place in the beautiful Turin International Art Museum (MIAAO, Museo Internatiozionale Del Arti Applicate Oggi), AND in the premises of the former Tabacco Factory, in the Art gallery Photissima.

In two exhibition venues, the MIAAO presents for the first time in Italy the work of the French photographer Christophe Dessaigne: at the museum his photos are included as part of the group exhibition La linea gotica/ The Gothic Line. Photography, Fashion, Paraphernalia, while in the spaces of the fair they are on display in the solo exhibition entitled Forgotten Places.

The event is under the partnership of Epson, Artnetworth, The Piemont Region, and The Provincia Dil Torino.

Altered Images: New Visionaries in 21st Century Photography

6 years, 5 months ago Artwork, Press, Publication 0

I will be featured in the book « ATERED IMAGES » (CarpetBombing Culture Publisher) UK.

The book will be out late October 2011.

They used to say that ‘the camera never lies’. The next generation may find that difficult to believe. Photography has come full circle, from the 19th century obsession with realism, to the 21st century addiction to hyper-reality. Opportunities for artists have multiplied just as the problems have proliferated.
As ever, theory runs to catch up with practice. The images collected here put strain on the old definitions and demand new ones.
What are they? Well, they are not, strictly speaking photographs anymore.
New territory needs new maps.

50 contributing photographers from 18 different countries.
Book Released: Late October.

Dream Story Poster – London Gate Theater

6 years, 8 months ago Non classé 0

I did the poster for the Gate Theater Notting Hill (London, UK).
« Dream Story » by Arthur Schnitzler, adapter and directed by Anna Ledwich.

>>> Watch the trailer here.<<<

The Gate Theatre has a distinguished reputation that far exceeds its size. It is London’s only producing theatre dedicated to international work.  From humble beginnings it has developed a significant renown throughout London, as well as nationally and internationally.

In 1979 the Gate was founded by Lou Stein, over the Prince Albert pub, in Notting Hill Gate. It set about a unique pursuit of the original, of plays and playwrights unknown on British stages, and of artists whose talent deserved to be discovered.

With an average seating capacity of 70, the Gate is small but ambitious. The space has challenged and inspired directors, designers, writers and performers for over 30 years, making it famous for being one of the most flexible and transformable spaces in London. The Gate is a springboard – our aim is to give emerging artists the opportunity to take risks, to excel and to make their mark. We have been home to a variety of both established and emerging artists including Lez Brotherston, Kathy Burke, Dominic Cooke, Wolfgang Goebbel, Sir Peter Hall, Ed Hogg, Richard Hudson, Paterson Joseph, Sarah Kane, Alex Kingston, Jude Law, Nancy Meckler, Katie Mitchell, Sophie Okonedo, Emma Rice, Ian Rickson and Rachel Weisz.

Interview in french.

www.laspirale.org/index.php is the best alternative cultural french speaker website. A cyberpunk place for digital mutants & crash culture.

Arjen Lucassen’s Star One CD artworks

7 years, 6 months ago Non classé 0
Here is the front cover for the next Star One CD album.

After my first collaboration (GUILT MACHINE) with the prog master Arjen Lucassen, here I am again, working on his brand new album.

I did all the booklet artworks. The album will be out late october 2010 .

- Watch the album teaser here : www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvvPI6Mh-xw

Star One was born out of the remnants of an abandoned collaboration between Lucassen and Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson. Dickinson proposed the idea and the two exchanged ideas and put together four songs, Lucassen writing the music and Dickinson writing the lyrics. The project was abandoned however after Lucassen mentioned the project on the internet and Dickinson’s manager called off negotiations. Instead of completely abandoning the material that had already been produced, Lucassen decided to put his own lyrics to the music and created Star One.

Publisher comments :

What’s the Story with Urban Exploration?

It’s easy to describe what an Urban Explorer does; they infiltrate into abandoned buildings and industrial sites and explore them, often taking photographs along the way. They don’t steal, vandalise or even leave graffiti behind them. In fact their code of honour is reminiscent of the rambler’s way: Take only pictures, leave only footprints. It is, on the other hand, not so easy to describe the whys and wherefores.
Think back to your childhood for a moment and it all begins to make sense. Do you remember the terrifying yet seductive draw of the archetypal haunted house? Every neighbourhood and every childhood has one. At the very point we cross the border from childhood into adolescence we cross real physical borders too. It’s the moment in our lives when we test the boundaries. We finally pluck up the courage to break into the haunted house and take a look around. You can probably remember your own experiences of this. And there will be at least one.

The Urban Explorer feels that we, in the comfortable and over-protected `first world’ are living in an enforced and extended state of childhood. They have remembered that they are capable of having unmediated experiences of reality and they welcome the fear that may (or may not) come with those experiences. The fear itself is the gateway to go through. It’s the gateway that leads for many to `wonderland’. This is the world through the looking glass that in some dark corner of every soul, we are all looking for.

The strange thing then is not that Urban Explorers exist; it’s that the rest of us have forgotten that we are Urban Explorers too.

Beauty in Decay. Urbex and The Art of Urban Exploration published by CarpetBombingCulture in July 2010 explores the global phenomenan of Urban Exploration.
